The visit of Punjab Minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia to the Moti Bagh Gun Club here, which was owned by Raninder Singh, the son of former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, today created ripples in political circles.

Majithia, who came here from Amritsar especially to preside over a shooting competition, refused to take political questions from scribes.

"I came here to promote only sports and you (media) people do not read much into it," said the minister, a known critic of Amarinder.

Majithia said he was the president of the Punjab Rifles Association and it was his duty to participate in any event pertaining to the sports.

He appreciated Raninder's efforts in setting up a a world class shooting range here.

On his opposing Raninder at the recently-held National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) elections, he said he would continue to support him at the national level.
