A major disaster was averted today as seven bogies decoupled from the New Delhi-bound Bihar Sampark Kranti Express near Laheriasarai railway station in Bihar's Darbhanga district.

The incident took place due to technical fault, as seven bogies of 12565 UP Bihar Sampark Kranti Express decoupled from the remaining bogies of the train which chugged on for some distance before the matter came to notice, Jafar Alam, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Samastipur Division of the East-Central Railway (ECR) told PTI.

Upon detecting that seven bogies had decoupled, the driver drove the train in reverse to the spot where the decoupled bogies were re-attached before it left for onward journey again, he said.

There was no injury to any passenger, Alam said, adding the Divisional Safety Officer had been asked to probe the incident.
