A special task force seized five trucks and two vans, laden with 102 tonnes of coal, near the Bishnugarh-Bokaro Road in Hazaribagh district.
The team, headed by DSP (Rural) Satish Kumar Jha made the seizure last night following a raid under directive from Superintendent of Police, Hazaribag, Manoj Kaushik.
Kaushik, who had tip offs about the illegal loading and despatching of the coals somewhere in Bokaro District, said the police seized the trucks near Narki one after another as the vehicles entered Bihshnugarh police station limits and approached the Bisnugarh-Gomia (Bokaro) en-route to Varanasi coal depot via NH-2 in Bagodar.

The DSP said they also seized the cars through which some notorious coal mafias were escorting the trucks with incriminating documents.
A case has been registered against nine persons including one Mukesh Giri and others in the Tati-Jharia police station.
