Major fire at godown

A major fire broke out at a

godown of a private company here today, fire brigade officials said.

The godown is located on Pandhana Road about seven kms from the district headquarters, they said adding that cotton seeds, soyabean and other materials stocked there were completely destroyed in the fire.

Nearly 25 fire-tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze that broke out around 8 am, fire brigade sources said.

According to Anand Nagori, owner of the company, cotton seeds, soyabean, wheat and tur dal, which were stocked at the godown, were completely destroyed in the fire.

However, there were no reports of any casualty so far, they said.
 

The cause of the fire was not yet to be ascertained and efforts were still to douse the flames.

Fire-tenders from Khandwa, Khargone, Burhanpur districts and private tankers were deployed to douse the flame, sources said.
