Mayawati, who earlier welcomed UPA presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee at her residence, 13 Mall Avenue, showed him impressive murals on the lives of Ram and Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

Later, talking to her MLAs and MPs at the party office in the presence of Mukherjee, she said that he was impressed by the murals depicting the struggles of Ram and Ambedkar.

He said these leaders are sources of inspiration to all, she said.

Apparently referring to criticism from the ruling Samajwadi Party about massive spending on her residence as former chief minister, without naming anyone, she said that she occupied only three rooms in the house while the major part of it was like a memorial of Kanshi Ram.

"It was here that Kanshi Ram used to stay on his visit to the state capital from 1995 to 2003...Partymen wanted a memorial for him and so I gave major part of it for the purpose," she said.
