Major rivers being cleaned in Punjab

Punjab government has put on fast track the project of cleaning of three major rivers - Sutlej, Beas and Ghaggar - in the state.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is monitoring the progress of this project and while the Punjab Pollution Control Board was doing it on weekly basis, Chairman PPCB Ravinder Singh said.

He said that to control pollution, 45 towns located on or near the banks of these rivers have been selected for the installation of Sewage Treatments Plants to stop discharge of untreated effluent into these rivers.
