Major rivers flowing above danger level in UP

Major rivers continued to flow above the danger mark in Uttar Pradesh as moderate to heavy rains lashed various parts of the state.

Relief commissioner office here said today that Ganga and Yamuna were flowing above the red mark at Allahabad and Ganga and Ghaghra at Ballia besides other rivers at different parts of the state.

Ganga was flowing .426 mts above the danger mark at Phaphamau (Allahabad), at Gazipur .765 mts and at Ballia 1.725 mts while Yamuna was flowing .500 mts above the red mark at Kalpi, at Hamirpur 1.148 mts, at Chilla Ghat (Banda) 1.440 mts and at Naini (Allahabad) .266 mts above the red mark.
 

Rivers Betwa at Sahijana, Sharda at Palia Kalan and Ghaghra at Turtipar (Ballia) were also flowing above the danger mark, they said, adding Ken was flowing 3.700 mts above the red mark at Banda.

According to MeT office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are: Lalitpur, Mahroni-7 each; Karvi-4, Attara,Garotha, Moth-3 each, Faizabad, Orai, Jhansi, Mahoba -2 each; Phoolpur, Ballia, Rath, Hamirpur and Chillaghat-1 each.

They forecast that rain and thundershowers would occur at isolated places over the state in the next 24 hours.
