Moderate to heavy rains lashed various parts of Uttar Pradesh as major rivers including Ganga and Yamuna continued to flow above the danger mark at different places in the state.
According to an official report from Badaun, with the release of water from Narora barrage, Ganga was flowing menacingly, submerging three villages with a population of 12,500 in the Sahaswan tehsil.
Executive engineer of flood division, D K Jain said that the situation became grim with the release of 2,08,000 cusex water yesterday and 2,17,203 cusex today increasing the danger of erosion and adversely hitting farming.

Yamuna was also flowing above the red mark at Prayag Ghat (Mathura) and Naini in Allahabad and Sharda at Palia Kalan.

Moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers occurred at isolated places over east UP and at few places in west UP with heavy rain/thundershowers at isolated places over the state, MeT officials said.
Chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are: Bansdih-9, Rampur-8, Meerut-6, Mummadi and Karvi-4 each, Baberu, Hata, Fatehgarh, Maharajganj, Shahjahanpur and Bareilly-3 each, Balrampur, Attara, Regoli, Moradabad and Sambhal-2 each, they added.
