Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today launched the World Bank funded Mizoram State Roads - II Regional Transport Connectivity Project costing 107 million dollars.
The road project was meant to provide better connectivity to the border trade centres in Myanmar and Bangladesh borders, an official statement said.
The first roads to be taken up were Champhai to Zokhawthar border trade centre at the Myanmar border and Chhumkhum to Chawngte in south Mizoram's Bangladesh border.

The proposed road from Lengpui airport near Aizawl would link the ongoing road construction in southernmost Mizoram's Lawngtlai district which was meant to connect the Kaladan Multi Modal Transport Project.
The Kaladan Multi Modal Transport project was for improvement of Sittwe port in Myanmar and linking Mizoram with waterways and road for connectivity of the north east with Kolkata by sea transport.
