With Majuli in Assam being declared the largest river island in the world in the Guinness World Records, Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma today said the recognition will enhance its bid to get world heritage status.
"With this recognition, Majuli in Assam enhances its bid for @UNESCO world heritage site status," he tweeted.
Majuli, an island in the Brahmaputra river, toppled Marajo in Brazil to bag the coveted title by Guinness World Records earlier this month.
