Union Labour Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today exhorted doctors to encourage their patients to keep their homes and surroundings clean.
Kicking off the Clean India Mission of his ministry today, Tomar urged everybody to dedicate themselves to the massive campaign and make cleanliness a habit.
"The doctors besides providing good treatment to their patients, should also impress upon them that they must keep their homes and surroundings clean," he said.
He kicked off the campaign at ESIC Hospital, Rohini, and took to cleaning part of the premises himself.
Tomar urged everyone to dedicate themselves to this massive campaign for Clean India Mission and together make homes, offices, villages, cities and surroundings clean.
Stating that with growing urbanisation, there was increase in garbage, Tomar said that it was Mahatma's Gandhi's dream that apart from providing education and employment, India should also become a clean nation.
He rued that India has not been able to fulfill his dreams even after 66 years of independence. He said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new government has reaffirmed its commitment to a clean India.
On Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary on October 2, Modi will be launching a massive campaign with the objective of making the whole country clean.
