Make Rajasthan open defecation free by 2018: Surendra Goyal

Rajasthan Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Surendra Goyal today called upon the Zila Pramukhs to discuss the measures taken in achieving the goal of making Rajasthan an Open Defecation Free (ODF) state by the year 2018.

Addressing a workshop of newly elected Zila Pramukh here, Goyal said that of the total 1 crore 15 lakh families in the state, 84 lakh do not have toilet facility.

Of these, 12 lakh families had been given this facility and for rest 72 lakh families toilets would be constructed in next three years, he said.

After that, Rajasthan would be the third ODF state in the country after Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh, Goyal added.
 

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje inaugurated the workshop at Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sansthan where senior officers were also present, a release said.
