Malaika Vaz sprang a surprise on the third day of the National Windsurfing Championships at Cidade de Goa by winning three of the day's four races in the Techno-293 Youth Women's Class.

Katya Coelho had won all the earlier races.

In another feat, Ram Lal defeated former national champion Remy Fernandes in Race 7 to claim his first gun.

Lal was leading Remy in Race 8 too, but took a tumble on the loop, allowing the ace surfer to finish ahead.

In the Olympic RS:X class, defending national champion Satappa K continued his winning streak, pocketing three of the day's four races, consolidating his grip on the title, ceding one race to Jerome Kumar.

Unlike his sister, Dayne Coelho continued to dominate the Techno 293 Youth Men's category. He won races 7, 8 and 9 but did not start in Race 10, having already won the title.

Raunak Pai jumped the start and was disqualified, leaving Chadwick D'Mello to claim his first gold medal.

In the Raceboard Open, Donald Coelho took a firm grip on the championship, winning three of the day's four races to claim the championship.

Russel Lobo found his winning ways again in the Raceboard Juniors category, and yesterday's winner Rhea Fernandes had to be content with just one win out of four races.

A Mahesh Rao of Orissa was a surprise second finisher in Race 7.

In sub-juniors, Myron Gomes sealed his claim on the championship, winning all four races.

In the Topper India Grand Prix, also being sailed at Cidade de Goa, Vishnu Sujeesh bagged Races 7 and 8, while Dheer Singhi took Races 9 and 10.

Goa's Charbelle Lobo came third in Race 8, while Diya Correia was third in Race 7. Akil Sai Kumar was a surprise third finisher in Races 9 and 10.
