Of Malaysia's 28 million people, eight per cent are ethnic Indians mostly Tamils.
In Malacca, a traditional one-metre oil lamp with a diameter of 1.5 metre, complete with a giant wick braided by Indian dhotis, is expected to be a crowd-puller.
It is expected to clinch the title of the tallest of its kind in the country and be noted in the Malaysia Book of Records.
Organising chairman Gobee Achudan said it took 10 days to complete the oil lamp.
He said the giant oil lamp weighed about one tonne and was transported to the site using a sky lift.
Achudan said the event, apart from showcasing cultural dances, food and music, would also feature multi-ethnic performances.
