Malaysia stage fightback to hold Tanzania

Ten-man Malaysia drew 2-2 with Tanzania after trailing by two goals in the AIFF Youth Cup (U-16) here.

Tanzania, who led 1-0 at half time, scored through Ali Juma and Oscar Mkomola. While Arif Shaquirin and Muhammad Idham struck for Malaysia last night.

Tanzania, who have finished their league engagement, are leading the table with six points from four matches. While Malaysia, who play their last match against USA, have two points from three games.

Tanzania took the lead in the 29th minute when a quick exchange of short passes inside the box allowed Amede to slip a pass to Ali, who tapped the ball past Malaysian goalkeeper Muhammad Firdaus.
 

Malaysia were down to 10 men in the 48th minute when defender Arhamkhussyairi Wahab committed a foul on Amede.

Tanzania doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Oscar struck off a rebound after the initial effort by Amani hit the upright.

Malaysia roared back into the game when their captain Arif chipped the ball over the Tanzanian goalkeeper in the 60th minute to make it 2-1.

Malaysia made it 2-2 in the 67th minute after substitute Idham scored from a tight angle to beat the keeper.
