Malaysia Tourism expects higher arrivals from India

Malaysia is expecting higher tourist arrivals from India this year at around eight lakh, according to tourism department officials of that country.

Last year, the number of tourist arrivals to Malaysia from India was 6.43 lakh, 20 per cent higher than that of the previous year, the officials said today.

This year, we are expecting the number of arrivals to touch eight lakh," deputy director-general of Malaysia Tourism Azizan Noordin told reporters here today.

He said that India was an important market for Malaysia, adding that many Indian weddings were now being held in that country.

The tourism sector of that country contributed significantly to the economy.
