Captain James Anthony Tan, a Malaysian pilot who is on a solo world tour in a single-engine aircraft, landed in Nagpur last evening.

Twenty-one years old Tan is seeking to become the youngest pilot to complete a solo around-the-world flight, which will involve flying 22,000 nautical miles (41,000 Km), covering 19 countries in four continents, in fifty days.

"I am very excited with the expedition," said Captain Tan, who resumed his journey this morning, heading for Kolkata.

The expedition has been organised by Young Pilots Association Malaysia, Malaysia Felda Youth Council and '1M4Uco-operation'.

Mohamed Hatimi Abas, Consul General of Malaysia in Mumbai, and Manoharan Parisamy, Director, Tourism Malaysia, were present at the city airport to receive Tan when he landed last evening.

Abas said that stop-over in Nagpur by Captain Tan "signifies the existing healthy and cordial relations" between the two countries, and "Nagpur is seen as a promising city that offers enormous potential for future growth".
