Waheed, accompanied by his wife Ilham Hussain, was received at the airport by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Preneet Kaur.
Waheed would be meeting the top Indian leadership here including President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
He will also be visiting Mumbai where he is likely to meet two top industrialists.
The President is being accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Samad Abdulla, Minister of Finance and Treasury Abdulla Jihad, and Minister of Housing and Environment Mohamed Muiz.
Indian officials said the President's visit would provide an opportunity to both sides to continue the ongoing dialogue and provide further impetus to the bilateral relationship.
