Malik directed the police chiefs of Islamabad and the four provinces to take special care of Chinese nationals.

He issued the directive while chairing a meeting to review steps taken for the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

Pakistan values its relations with China and the friendship between the two countries is "time-tested and progressing by leaps and bounds", he said.

Pakistan will never allow anyone to use its soil against China and will fully cooperate to root out the scourge of terrorism, he said.

The Chinese Ambassador and senior security and police officials attended the meeting.

The envoy thanked Malik for adopting measures to ensure the security of Chinese working in Pakistan.

It could not immediately be ascertained if hundreds of Chinese nationals currently working in Pakistan were facing any fresh security threat.
