A shopping mall here was closed today following rumours spread through social media that some organisations have decided to organise 'kiss for love' event to air their protest against moral policing.

Rumours were ripe since yesterday in Whatsapp and other Social Media that a group of people are to converge at the mall on Avanashi Road, as part of their event of kissing in public.

Based on this and to avoid unnecessary tension, the mall authorities today placed board that the complex will be closed for business, even as two organisations--Hindu Munnani and Indu Makkal Katchi-- have said that they will stop such practices at any cost, as kissing in the public was not Indian culture.

When contacted, Mall management said that since they do not want to create any tension and frication over the issue, it was decided to close the mall for business.

Police and other private security agencies are keeping a strict vigil on the mall, even as adequate police are also positioned in some other commercial complex.
