An employee of a mall was arrested and a cash of Rs. 15 lakh seized from him in Telco area here under East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, a police officer said.
On being informed about the theft in the Mall situated in Birsanagar, the Birsanagar police swung into action and alerted the adjoining Telco and Sundernagar police station around 2 am last, Deputy Superintendent of Police (City) Animesh Naithany said.
Naithany said police arrested a youth during a massive vehicle checking drive launched while he was trying to flee with the cash stuff in a bag.
On interrogation, the identity of the youth was established as Vatan Kumar Sao, a native of Ramgarh district, he said adding that Sao was an employee in the Mall owned by Ranchi-based businessman Shyam Sunder Patwari.
