Beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya's United Breweries Infrastructure had applied for licence to operate a casino in Goa in 2013, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the Legislative Assembly today.
The chief minister was responding to the question by Congress MLA Digambar Kamat who had asked about the companies that had applied to set up casinos in the state since 2013.
In a written reply, Parsekar stated UB Infrastructure Projects Limited had applied for the casino licence in 2013, but his reply did not specify whether permission was granted to the firm.

Parsekar further said companies, namely Delta Corp, MKM Grand Gaming and Entertainment, Goan Recreation Clubs, Eden Estates and Leisure and Goa Golf Club, had also submitted their applications.
As per government records which are tabled on the floor of the House, the directors of UB Infrastructure Projects Limited are Ramakrishna Shivcharan, Ajay Kumar Vijay, and Manmohan Singh Kapur.
Mallya, believed currently to be in London, is under scanner of multiple agencies for alleged loan default and other charges.
