West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has congratulated the SC and ST examinees of the Joint Entrance examination this year for their success with the help of government-sponsored Counselling Centres all over the state.

"Congratulations and my best wishes to all of them. I want my brothers and sisters to do their best in their careers," Banerjee said in a facebook message while assuring these students of all support and guidance on behalf of her government.

She said that in a unique initiative by the government for SC and ST Joint Entrance examinees, the government had set up 20 counselling centres in 18 districts including Kolkata.

Expressing happiness, Banerjee said that more than 500 students from these centres had emerged successful in Engineering or Medical or Pharmacy disciplines in the Joint Entrance examination.

Stating that more than 600 students attended the classes in these counselling centres, Banerjee said that regular assessments by senior faculty including the state government officials were held and the students were provided stipends in support of their studies.
