Expressing concern over reports of a tiger roaming the Madhupur forests in Lalgarh area of Jhargram district, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today asked the forest officials to ensure that it does not stray into human habitats.
The CM, while speaking at an administrative meeting at Bankura police lines here, enquired about the location of the big cat.
"Do you have any information about the tiger which is reportedly roaming forests in Midnapore? Have you alerted the common people?" Banerjee asked the DFO, who was present at the meeting.

"This tiger seems to have lost its way. Only forest officials can say something about the behaviour and temperament of such animals. We will have to keep an eye to ensure it does not stray into villages," she said.
An adult male tiger was recently caught in a camera trap laid by forest officials near Lalgarh.
The department's efforts to capture and relocate the tiger, however, have failed to yield any result so far.
