Mamata expresses grief over Kanpur train accident

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today expressed grief over the train accident near Kanpur that claimed at least 96 lives and injured 76 others.

"Saddened at the news of train accident. Thoughts and prayers with those families who lost their loved ones," Banerjee, a former Railway Minister, said in a message.

"May the injured recover well," she said in the message.

At least 96 persons have died and 76 others injured in a derailment and pile up of coaches of Indore-Patna Express near Pukhraya in Kanpur dehat district in the wee hours today.
