Welcoming the passage of the GST bill in Rajya Sabha, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed hope that it will give relief to micro and small businesses and remain under single control of the states.

"We have consistently supported the idea and implementation of GST. Good constitutional amendment was passed today," Banerjee said in a tweet.

"Now in GST Bill in Nov, all states want to give relief to micro and small businesses which must remain under single control of the states," Banerjee posted in Twitter late tonight.

With main opposition Congress and most other parties on board, Rajya Sabha passed a bill to amend the Constitution to facilitate rollout of the GST amid government's assurance that the tax rates would be kept "as low as possible".
