West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said religion means brotherhood and unity, while addressing a gathering here on the occasion of 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
"Religion doesn't mean violence. Religion means brotherhood, religion means unity. Religion does teach us peace...," Banerjee said during a programme of Sikhs here.
While referring to demonetisation, she said poor people who were not able to buy food due to crunch of notes, used to visit the 'langarkhana' of Gurdwara for foods.
"When I was in Delhi, I saw poor people who were not able to buy food due to crunch of notes, visiting langarkhana during lunch time," the TMC supremo said.
