To promote Bengal-based folk artists, the West Bengal government today kick started the Biswa Bangla Lok Sanskriti Utsav.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the festival at Nandan in the at Rabindra Sadan complex.
Several top IAS officers were seen singing folk songs at the inauguration programme.
Under the Lok Prasar scheme, folk artists are enrolled by the government, following which they perform at government programmes for publicizing development works.
