BJP General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya Tuesday hit out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying she is gripped in fear psychosis watching people joining the saffron party in large numbers.
Speaking to the media after landing at Bagdogra airport and before proceeding to Coochbehar for start of the BJP's rath yatra from there on Friday, Vijayvargiya said, the Trinamool Congress has understood that the BJP would be able to reach out to each and every citizen of the state through the rath yatras and this was worrying them.
The Trinamool Congress is trying to malign the image of our party out of fear from us, he said.
"I think Mamataji is gripped in fear psychosis because the BJP is gaining mandate in the state. She feels that through the rath yatra we will be able to reach out to people and tell them about the state government's failure," Vijayvargiya said.
Speaking about the party's rath yatra scheduled to begin in the state on Friday, December 7, the senior BJP leader said the rath yatra is being organised to extend and deepen the party's roots in West Bengal.

By organising the rath yatra, we aim to make the people aware about the ruling party's politics of violence in the state, Vijayvargiya, in-charge of Bengal, said, adding that the BJP is not into such kind of politics.
He also alleged that Mamata Banerjee is intimidating the people of the state with the help of "politics of violence".
Refusing to comment on the Bulandshahr incident in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP general secretary said, the government is investigating the matter.
BJP leader Mukul Roy, speaking on Trinamool Congress' purification rally said democracy is pure by itself.
He wondered what kind of purification rally Mamata Banerjee will be organising as an answer to the saffron party's Rath yatra.
Notably, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had ridiculed the scheduled 'rath yatra' of the BJP as 'Ravan yatra' and called for cleansing of areas through which the saffron party's chariots would pass.
Alleging that democracy is at stake in the state under the Trinamool Congress rule, Roy said the BJP has hit the streets to restore democracy in West Bengal.
The Trinamool Congress has realised that it is about to loose ground in Bengal and therefore the party's chief Mamata Banerjee is in great fear.
BJP president Amit Shah will kickstart three rath yatra programmes, the first of which will start from Coochbehar district in north Bengal on December 7.
The other two yatras would be from Kakdwip in the south on December 9 and from the temple town of Tarapith in Birbhum district on December 14.
