West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid homage to freedom fighters on the 77th anniversary of the Quit India movement on Friday.

"On the 77th anniversary of Quit India Movement, my respectful homage to all those brave men and women who took part in our freedom struggle," Banerjee tweeted.

The Quit India Movement, also known as the August Movement, was launched by Mahatma Gandhi during the All India Congress Committee session in Bombay on this day in 1942, demanding an end to the British rule of India.
