West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 113th birth anniversary.
"Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on his birth anniversary today. Let us never forget the welfare of our farmers," Banerjee today wrote on her Twitter handle.
Shastri, India's second prime minister, was born in 1904 and served in the office between June 1964 and January 1966.
Shastri had coined the popular 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' slogan in 1965 at a public gathering at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi.
