Administrative calenders for districts to tone up the development process across West Bengal was proposed today by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
"Our aim is to create records in carrying out various development activities across the state and our effort will be to break those records," Banerjee told reporters here after a meeting on development of Nadia district.
She said, "with a positive attitude, difficult work can be accomplished. We have to do more. With this in mind, we plan to draw up administrative calenders for all the districts for monitoring and reviewing all development activities in process."
Announcing a slew of projects for the district, she said that 99 arsenic-free water projects at a cost of Rs 400 crore had been undertaken out of which 45 would be completed by March next, and the rest by December 2014.
Banerjee said that 97 per cent of the BPL families of Nadia district had been given electricity connection and the remaining three per cent would be provided shortly.
The district would also be benefited by a Rs 16-curare 'mother and child hub', river bank beautification, textiles clusters, an industrial growth centre at Kalyani, ITIs, a truck terminus, helipads and food processing park among others.
She praised the performance of the district in MGNREGA programme.
