Mamata reviews progress of projects in North 24-Parganas dist

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today directed the administration of North 24-Parganas district to speed up pending and ongoing development projects.

On work on national highways passing through the district, Banerjee said it has begun in close coordination with the district administration.

"Work on national highways are in progress and the NHAI is cooperating with the district magistrate," she said.

Works for repairing embankment, breached in the cyclone Aila, is also in progress, Banerjee said.

To a question, Banerjee said that work is also in progress to merge some small municipalities into a municipal corporation in the district to ensure better administration and to make available more resources.
 

"The police have also been asked to tackle the law and order situation sternly and maintain peace and harmony among people representing various communities in the district," she added.
