West Bengal Congress president Adhir Choudhury today alleged that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government's decision to set up an AIIMS in Kalyani instead of Raiganj was due to "political jealousy".

"While earlier it was decided to set up the institute in North Bengal's Raiganj now this will be instead opened in Kalyani in Nadia district which smacks of political jealousy" Choudhury told reporters at the sidelines of a Congress workers meet here today.

While Nadia district is TMC stronghold, North Bengal has been a traditional Congress stronghold.

"This will deprive people of the North Bengal of quality medical treatment which is not proper", he said.
