Mamata sings at function at Tagore's residence

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today sang a Rabindranath Tagore song at a function on the occasion of the poet's 72nd death anniversary.

The audience heard with rapt attention as the Chief Minister held the microphone and sang 'jharo jharo barishe baridhara' at the programme organised by the Rabindra Bharati University at Tagore's ancestral residence at Jorasanko.

"Rabindranath Tagore will remain immortal in the minds of people and his work will inspire us for ages to come," she said in her speech.

Earlier, she released a book 'Gitanjali India' in 14 languages, including in English, Hindi and Bengali at the state secretariat.
 

The 680-page book is priced at Rs 2500.
