West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today termed the UPA government as a minority one, and said she supported Anna Hazare's demand for immediate dissolution of Parliament.
In August, when Trinamool Congress was still a part of the UPA government, Banerjee had expressed disparage over Hazare's anti-corruption movement.
"Lot of people are airing their views. They have every right to do so. But I would also like to say why so much ruckus is being raised when the issue (the Lokpal bill) is awaiting discussion in parliament,” Banerjee had said.
The chief minister's comment comes soon after the Union government had included two of her vehement critics ― Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Deepa Dasmunsi ― in the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, at a press meet today, Banerjee said the decision of making set-top-box mandatory by Central government would not be accepted.
"When set top boxes are not in hand, analog system should be allowed to continue and the Centre has no right to blackout television. We can't simply accept this stand of the Centre," Banerjee told a press conference here.
