BJP today alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is more interested in "pursuing politics over cow" rather than development of minorities and claimed that she was "afraid" of the party's "growth" and therefore targeting it.

"Banerjee is more interested in pursuing politics over cow rather than development of minorities ... It is an irony that she is running the state with the help of the central government and is criticising it," state BJP chief Ghosh alleged.

"She has managed to silence all the other opposition parties, including CPI(M) and Congress. It is only BJP that is protesting and resisting any undemocratic process. She is scared of the growth of BJP, which is growing both in the state and the country," he claimed.

Ghosh said he is "happy" that the Chief Minister has started accepting BJP as the "main opposition", which is making his job to increase the party's base much easier.

Mamata had last week lashed out at the NDA-led Central government for pursuing "divisive politics" and had urged the minority community not to fall to its "trap."

India is like "one big joint family" where several religions have been coexisting as brothers for decades, she had said.
