West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today thanked DMK working president M K Stalin for his support to the federal front mooted by her to take on the BJP.

"DMK has always stood for the unity of regional parties and stronger federal co-operation. I endorse the efforts of @MamataOfficial to bring together various political parties to oppose the autocratic and antidemocratic rule of the BJP," Stalin wrote on Twitter.

"Thank you. We extend our full support," Banerjee tweeted in reply.

Banerjee, who has advocated one-to-one fight against the BJP, told a Bengali news channel yesterday that all the regional parties have to work together on the basis of a common minimum agenda in the interest of the country.

She also claimed it would be difficult for the BJP to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

"The federal front is the main criteria. It has its importance," Banerjee had said.

There was no objection to the Congress joining the front, but the party had to agree to one-to-one formula in all the states, she had said in the interview.
