Mamata to boost MSME sector in Bengal

In the first phase, land banks would come up in three districts Hooghly, Bankura and East Midnapore followed by West Midnapore, while three industrial estates were coming up at Rezinagar in Murshidabad district, Ambari Falakata in Jalpaiguri district and Durgapur in Burdwan district, Bagchi added.

He was briefing a meeting with MSME entrepreneurs, convened by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

At present nearly 4,500 people are involved with 38 industrial estates and 12 commercial complexes under MSME sector in the state, he said.

The department under the leadership of chief minister Mamata Banerjee has already taken up several programmes to boost the areas like jute, textile and leather with innovative and modern technology.

 

To boost marketing of the produces in the sector, steps were also being taken to showcase these items in different airports and malls in the country and abroad, Bagchi said.

The entrepreneurs, who attended today's meeting, represented industrial estates like Kasba, Kalyani, Behala, Maniktala and Santoshpur, he added.
