West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is scheduled to visit Singapore to attract foreign investment, today said she will promote some products of the state during her trip.

Banerjee, during her visit here, said the bags produced by Self Help Group in the district were beautiful.

"I shall carry it to Singapore along with a local variety of Tulaipanji rice for their marketing in that country," she told a meeting here.

Banerjee was scheduled to leave for Singapore on August 17, her first foreign trip after assuming office of Chief Minister, accompanied by an official and business delegation to attract foreign investment to the state.

She said her government has decided to set up an export market at Hilli in South Dinajpur district, bordering Bangladesh, which would help create massive employment opportunities in both South and North Dinajpur districts and change the economic scenario of the entire area.

"I have asked the DM and other officials to identify land for this purpose and prepare a detailed project report (DPR). It will help trade with the neighbouring country and boost economic activity across the entire region," she said.

The Chief Minister said her government has undertaken an all out effort to fulfill the requirements of people in these districts, besides creating opportunities for employment and income generation.

Banerjee also announced a host of projects for both South and North Dinajpur districts including setting up of a law college and an engineering college in joint venture with private entities, besides super-speciality hospitals.

She also explained how her projects Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Karmatirtha (shops to unemployed youths for self employment) and Kishan Bazars would help the beneficiaries.

Giving a message of development for all areas in her state, the Chief Minister said her government would reach out to people at all times to meet their needs.
