Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is all set to visit Tripura on August 9 to strengthen Trinamool Congress in the state where it emerged as main opposition party.

"I have spoken to our supremo Mamata Banerjee and she has agreed to come to Tripura on August 9. We will also prepare our road map under her directions for the next Assembly polls in Tripura," Sudip Ray Barman who led the Congress dissidents in the northeastern state, told PTI here.

In a setback to opposition Congress, six dissident MLAs in Tripura had joined TMC last week making it the main opposition party in the Left-ruled state.

Burman, the former leader of opposition, had been elected leader of the TMC legislature group.

"We are confident that we will be able to oust the the Left Front regime in Tripura in the next Assembly polls. People in Tripura are fed up with the Left rule there. The Left Front in Tripura will have the same fate as that the Left Front in West Bengal faced in 2011," a senior TMC leader said.
