West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left a Purulia district administrative meeting in a huff expressing unhappiness over the tardy progress of various development works.

"I do not like any laxity in development work relating to the people. The (Purulia) district administration has failed to fulfill the job they were entrusted with. I take a strong stand in such cases. I do not do anything secretly," Banerjee told reporters after coming out of the meeting this afternoon.

She said the district officials had not cooperated with the district magistrate and the accused if found guilty of negligence, would be punished.

"First they (district administration) must complete the works for the district then I will come again. But I will keep monitoring," she added.

Banerjee is currently touring the districts reviewing the progress of the government's development schemes.
