West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today extended her Bijoya Dashami greetings to the people and prayed for the welfare of all.

Banerjee wrote on a Facebook post in Bengali 'Aaj Subho Bijoya/ Bhore Jakhon Akash Jude/ Bajbe beena Sonar Sure/ Ami Jeno Na Roi Dure/ Ei Diyo Mor Man' (Today is Subho Bijoya, When the morning sky will reverberate with the melancholic music of the Veena, give me that power so that I am not far).

Conveying her wishes, she wrote 'My respect to elders and good wishes and lots of love to the young'.

She also prayed for the health and happiness of the people. "Keep good health and I pray for the welfare for all members of the family".

Bijoya Dashami marks the end of the five-day Durga Puja when the goddess leaves her parents' home after her annual visit and along with her four children returns to Kailash to her husband Shiva.
