Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra today said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not be able to attract any investment from her proposed visit to Singapore.

"In the last three years no new investments have come to the state and I have heard that she is now going to Singapore to attract investments. I think she won't be able to attract anything, even the up and down fares to Singapore also won't be realised," Mishra said.

The CPI(M) Politburo member said the state government first needs to reign in the miscreants allegedly affiliated to Trinamool Congress who threaten the future of industries in the state.

Referring to recent incidents in Shyam Sel, where a local TMC leader was accused of extortion, Mishra said "Before trying to bring in investments, she should try to reign in the miscreants affiliated to her party so that they don't terrorise industrialists by demanding money".

In the backdrop of allegations of extortion bids and threatening of officials of a steel plant by a section of TMC workers, Trinamool supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had cautioned party workers to refrain from such activities.

Banerjee's warning came days after three Trinamool leaders of Burdwan-Asansol industrial belt were suspended from the party for alleged extortion bids and threatening officials of a steel plant at Jamuria in Burdwan district.
