Mammen Mathew chosen for prestigious journalism award

A prestigious journalism award, instituted by a Trust founded by Lokamanya Tilak, will be conferred on Mammen Mathew, Chief Editor and Managing Director of Malayala Manorama.

Lokmanya Tilak National Award for Excellence in Journalism, instituted by Kesari-Mahratta Trust, consists of Rs one lakh and a memento. The award will be given as part of 133th foundation day celebrations of the trust at Tilakwada Pune on January 4.

Announcing the award, Deepak Tilak, Trustee-Editor of Kesari, said Mammen Mathew has been selected for his exemplary work in the field of journalism.

He is one of the senior most journalists in India. Mammen Mathew has 44 years of experience, that saw him working with reputed publications in India and abroad, Tilak said.
 

Mammen Mathew was the President of the Editors Guild of India and The Indian Newspaper Society, an association of newspaper owners. He is also a member of the Prime Minister's National Integration Council and National Security Advisory Board.

He is also a Director Trustee of the Thomson Reuters Founders Share Company which runs the international news agency Thomson Reuters.

Mammen Mathew is the first Indian Director Trustee of the 150 year-old company.
