A man accused of seriously assaulting an Indian-origin taxi driver dropped his pants to "moon" reporters outside an Australian court today.

Christopher Farinola, 20, pulled a T-shirt over his head to hide his face and then bared his backside after leaving the Port Adelaide Magistrate's Court.

He did not speak but spat out of a car window twice as he drove away, news.Com.Au reported.

Farinola and three other men were accused of seriously assaulting cabbie Manbir Singh, 24, at Henely Beach in November.

Singh suffered a fractured eye socket and has partially lost sight in an eye.

Co-accused Bradley Field, 20, also appeared for the first time in court. Two other men charged over the incident will appear on a date yet to be fixed.

Farinola was directed by a judge to reappear in March.
