A man here has accused the family members of his wife of abducting her as she had married him against their wishes, police said here.
Raghubir had married Sumita two months back.
In a complaint lodged with the police, complainant Raghubir hailing from village Pathana-Chak here alleged that 11 family members of his wife had abducted her when the couple were going to a local court here for recording their statement yesterday.
The couple had moved the court for seeking police protection, apprehending threat to their lives from the family of girl.
When they reached near the court, several family members including Mahavir Singh, Kamlesh, girl's parents, Balwinder, Ajay, cousin brothers, among others allegedly kidnapped his wife for marrying against their wishes.
He claimed that his wife was taken to an unknown destination.
Police said a case of abduction has been registered against the accused, saying investigations are underway.
