A 30-year-old man, who had allegedly killed a minor boy three months ago along with his brother-in-law after the victim resisted their sodomisation bid, has been arrested from central Delhi.

Joginder Chauhan (15) was found dead on a roof top of a building on June 8 and police was under impression that it was a case of accident.

However, on August 24, a reference was received from Ram Gaon Police Station, the hometown of the deceased in Behraich, UP which clarified the cause of death as 'ante-mortem head injury' in the postmortem report.

An intense inquiry was launched in this connection and it was learnt that Chauhan was last seen with Sanjay alias Sahaj Ram (30) and Lachi and both of them were absconding from the date of incident. Following this, a massive manhunt was launched to nab the duo.

Sanjay was arrested by staff of Chandni Mahal Police Station from Turkman Gate area on Friday soon after he returned to the national capital to earn his livelihood thinking that the police must have stopped hunting for him. His brother-in-law Lachi Ram, who had allegedly assisted him in the murder, is still on the run.

During interrogation, Sanjay revealed that on June 8, he along with Lachi Ram consumed liquor and reached their room, where Dukhran, Joginder, Sunil, Balwant and Chotu also joined them for dinner at the rooftop.

After having dinner, Dukhran, Sunil, Balwant and Chotu went to sleep at the ground floor of the premises while Sanjay, Lachi Ram and deceased Joginder remained at the rooftop, police said.

"In the early morning, Sanjay and Lachi Ram tried to sodomise the boy. But, the deceased resisted them, resulting in a scuffle in which he suffered skull fracture causing his instant death. Thereafter both fled from the home after stealing Rs 6000 from the victim early morning on June 9," said a senior police official.

During the last 3 months, Sanjay kept on hiding in the bordering areas of Nepal and once he was satisfied that Police had stopped his search, he came back to Delhi and landed in police net.
