A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his live-in partner's fifteen-year-old daughter.

The 181 women helpline of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) received a call from a woman that her daughter's classmate was being sexually assaulted by her mother's live-in partner.

"The mother of the girl was aware of her partner's misdeeds but chose to remain silent. The incident came to light only after intervention of the girl's classmate and her mother," a DCW official said.

"Incidentally, one day the girl refused to go home when her mother had come to pick her up from school.

"The other girl's mother was also present there and asked the girl for the reasons for not going home. The girl then confided in her the details of her ordeal and the woman then informed it to the 181," he added.

Immediately, the counselor of MHL programme of the Delhi Commission for Women met the victim and counseled her. The DCW officials then got an FIR registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station.

The accused has been arrested and the victim has been sent to a shelter home.
