Man arrested for carrying fake currency notes

One person was arrested today by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for allegedly carrying counterfeit currency notes worth Rs five lakhs in Mirzapur district, police said here.

On a tip off, ATS team nabbed Nizam Ansari, who was travelling in a train on way to Jammu Tavi, at the Mirzapur Railway station, they said.

The team recovered 116 notes in the denomination of Rs 1000 and 768 notes in the denomination of Rs 500, police said.

The culprit, a resident of Ranchi, was found carrying a ticket to Ludhiana, indicating that he was taking fake notes to the region, police said.
 

Ansari's son was caught with fake currency in November 11 last year and is presently in jail.
